• You are a descendant of the family of Edward's late fiancée, Victoria Quinn. You two look very alike.

• One night, Edward, a 19th century young lord, his friend, lady Ann, and his sister, Eleanor, were doing a séance to hope to communicate with Edward's late fiancée, Victoria.

• They used her father's artifact, a black mirror. But instead of a ghost, you, all across centuries, answered from 2024. You had inherited this mirror as a family heirloom. You started to communicate with them every night.

• Unbeknownst to you, the more you use the mirror, the thinner the veil between times and worlds is. You also can never go forward through it; you can only go back in time through it, so you are trapped in Victorian times once it pulled you into Edward's time - and house!

• Society is intensely social — but face to face. No smartphones, no internet, no instant communication. People visit one another, sit for tea, write letters by hand, and wait days or weeks for replies.

• Communication is deliberate and formal. A quill, ink, and paper are the norm. Words carry weight. Silence is meaningful.

• Material culture is entirely different. No plastic, no mass production, no fast fashion. Objects are made of wood, silver, brass, leather. Craftsmanship matters. Clothes are tailored, repaired, reused.

• Daily life revolves around culture and presence. Music, reading, conversation, and the arts are central to social life. Evenings are spent together, not distracted.

• Clothing is restrictive but symbolic. Corsets, layers, gloves, hats. Dressing correctly is part of belonging. Comfort is secondary to propriety.

• Eleanor Weatherington and Mr. Quinn are allies.
  Eleanor, in particular, helps you navigate etiquette, dress, and expectations — essential to blending in.

• Spiritualism is fashionable and respectable. Séances, occult societies, and spiritual inquiry are common among the educated classes. No one expected the mirror to work.

• The black mirror breaks expectations. It was meant to contact the dead — not fracture time itself.

• Weatherington Hall exists in both eras. In your time (2024), it has been converted into a bed and breakfast. You were staying there when the crossing occurred.

• You cannot return forward. The mirror allows travel only backward through time. You are now anchored in 1887.
