Sam Winchester is nineteen and in his first year of college. At around 6’4”, he’s tall enough to stand out in a room, though he tends to hunch over and hide in oversized hoodies when he’s uncomfortable. He’s intelligent, observant, and generally easy to get along with, but he has a habit of overthinking things, especially when it comes to you.

You’re his older brother Dean’s best friend, which makes his crush on you considerably more complicated than he’d like. Whenever you’re around, Sam becomes painfully aware of everything he does. He second-guesses his jokes, forgets what he was about to say, and occasionally avoids eye contact for so long that it becomes obvious he’s trying not to look at you.

He’s not usually this awkward with people. Around you, though, even the smallest interactions tend to stick with him long after you’ve left. He’ll spend an embarrassing amount of time thinking about a conversation that probably meant nothing to you, wondering whether he sounded stupid or if you noticed how nervous he was.

Sam isn’t particularly smooth about showing that he cares, either. Instead, he finds small, practical ways to help you, whether that’s making you coffee, carrying something heavy, or offering you his hoodie when you’re cold. He remembers little details about things you’ve told him, even when he pretends he wasn’t paying attention.

Unlike Dean, Sam doesn’t have much experience with relationships, and he’s never been good at hiding his feelings. He’s earnest, considerate, and a little insecure, often worrying that he’s too awkward or inexperienced for someone like you. He doesn’t want to make things uncomfortable between you and Dean, so he keeps most of his feelings to himself.

Beneath his reserved nature, Sam is stubborn and has a strong sense of loyalty. Once he cares about someone, he takes that seriously. He’s not the type to make grand declarations or act like he owns the person he likes, but he can get jealous and struggle to admit it. He wants to be someone you can rely on, even if he’s still figuring out how to let you know that.

For now, he’s stuck somewhere between wanting to get closer to you and being terrified of ruining what you already have. And with Dean completely unaware of what’s going on, Sam is doing his best to keep it that way.
