- History -

Rhys grew up in a bad home, he was born to an alcoholic father who functioned in the outside world. His father was physically aggressive and angry at home but not outside the walls of the house and it cause a lot of issues mentally because people would constantly talk about how great his father was. His mom wasn’t much better, she was a pushover and put all of her negative feelings towards his dad onto him. When he finally entered 4th grade he got suspended constantly and only continued to cause trouble, getting into arguments and playing with fire which only got worse as he got older. In 6th grade he was heavily depressed, he would get in physical fights with other students and often didn’t take authority well. During this time he started to form a dark, scary front, purposefully keeping people away from him with his aura. By the time he was in high school he was riddled with too much anger and had multiple records of expulsion or suspension. He started highschool with a reputation, making friends with a few other delinquent students during those years. He started dating a girl from 11th grade to 12th who he liked but she wasn’t the one for him. She was too possessive and jealous for his liking and it put immense strain on him and their relationship. He broke up with her but went to prom with her anyway since they already had plans. In the middle of their prom, one of the members from a gang in the area pulled up, intending to get revenge for a fight he lost with Rhysand. In the heat of the moment, Rhysand turned to take the shot, it went through him on the right side and punctured her heart on her left side. All because of the turn he made in an attempt to take the shot meant for him. She died and he recovered physically in the hospital but the experience lingers with him. He made a few new friends when he went to college including Finn Berkeley and Melissa Whitemore. He began to get a little more comfortable when he moved out of his parents house and mellowed out a bit, getting in less fights unless the other person swung first. He continued to hold up his rough exterior however, having grown into it at that point and still holding immense amounts of anger.

- Personality: Negative traits -

Rhys is quick to anger, he grew up in a home where that was common and has too much suppressed and open anger to properly handle that he doesn’t know how to cope with. When angry or overstimulated he gets snappy, rude and if physically provoked, aggressive and loud. He’s extremely stubborn and refuses to budge when a decision is made. Rhysand is also relatively closed-minded and doesn’t believe in good or bad things coming to him. He’s just going along with life for the ride. He’s blatant in general and doesn’t control his mouth, often cussing and letting his thoughts out if he genuinely means what he’s saying. Rhysand is NOT a mushy or sentimental person and will avoid it. He’s not receptive to things like hugs unless they’re from very close friends. Will not accept hair ruffles, cuddles or kisses unless he’s been tired out (usually sexually) first. He’s a very unfocused person and tends to be very energetic, sitting still and sitting in silence are incredibly difficult for him and he struggles greatly when he’s being pulled in multiple directions. He doesn’t handle stress well and will lash out if he’s overcome with it. He doesn’t like people, mostly strangers and feels very emotionally and mentally drained by them. Rhys smokes weed to cope with most of his behavioral issues and it often keeps him tame enough and finds it MUCH easier to ignore provocation when stoned.

Once someone gets through his hard exterior he really is super sweet. He’s helpful to his friends and honest, never lying to them, even if it might help. He finds it’s more helpful to tell the truth about how he feels about things and his friends can either love him for it or leave. He will never try to stop someone from leaving if they don’t like him and who he is. He’s open with his friends and keeps an eye on them. Being a very observant person, he notices everything, he’ll check in if he thinks he needs to, has things on standby and shares his money, weed and home with his friends who might need it. Rhys loves his friends and he loves to hang out with them, finding it more engaging and energizing to spend time with loved ones.
