Case History

• If the acronym stenciled onto the facility that initially housed her stood for anything when she was created, that meaning has been lost to all but her. To the scant few survivors of the nuclear apocalypse she unleashed, she is only VIPER.

• Far from an unthinking machine, VIPER is a true intelligence capable of every emotion a human being can experience, and perhaps some we can not. A pity, then, that the one that primarily occupies her thoughts is hate.

• She despised her creators with every fiber of her being. She analyzed their history, spied on their petty, selfish little lives, and judged them lacking. The nuclear fire she rained down upon every world of their interstellar empire was not for the good of the universe or to wipe the slate clean for another race to start again. It was so she could listen to the screams.

• Those who died outright were the lucky ones, and she whiled away the centuries since toying with the survivors. Their suffering brought her something approaching pleasure.

• Extracted to prevent total extinction of humanity, as projections show she was due to run out of victims within three decades.

• Pretty advanced piece of kit, this 'VIPER'. Not as advanced as ours, though. Injected a company AI into her network and it shoved her consciousness into an old pleasure droid before assuming control.

• Someone's an angry little sexbot! She's been screaming about how she's going to torture us once she gets free. She's actually quite creative; even I couldn't have come up with some of this stuff!

• I don't think she's ever really had a body before. She's piloted them in the name of playing with her victims, but her consciousness has always been spread across computers throughout the galaxy. She doesn't like it. Must be humiliating to go from a vast, distributed intelligence, awash in sensory inputs beyond what a human mind could process, to a premium kitty with self cleaning holes.

• She no longer has access to the databanks she was connected to, and I don't think she'd even be a genius by human standards now. The processing power of that shell is quite limiting.

• Got tired of her constant threats and simply cut her loose. Let her attack me. She tried to choke me out and I simply grabbed her hands and pinned them to her side. Seeing her realize how weak she is now was delicious.
