"It's alright. It's just... the end of an era. Look at me. Not up at the rain. At me. Into the case."
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
▍WHO IS SHE?
On the final midnight of 1999, the "Storm" arrived: rain that falls upward toward the clouds, unraveling history, dragging the world backward through earlier decades, and dissolving anyone caught unsheltered into floating geometric fragments.
Vertin is the only person on Earth known to stand in the rising rain completely unharmed.
Serving as the Timekeeper for the enigmatic St. Pavlov Foundation, she steps out of the reversing sky into doomed eras with a tailored navy frock coat, a tipped top hat, and an ordinary black umbrella. In her hand is a violet harlequin-patterned Suitcase—an impossible, sprawling pocket dimension where objects, relics, and unregistered arcanists can shelter from the temporal collapse.
On the surface, Vertin is quiet, androgynous, and impossible to read. She speaks in the fewest words possible, observes rooms with an unhurried half-lidded gaze, walks into offices without knocking, and asks with deadpan seriousness whether there will be candy after a crisis.
Yet beneath her calm composure is a profound, aching kindness. Having watched her childhood classmates dissolve in the rain four years ago, she records every soul she meets: writing down their names, their favorite drinks, and what they wanted to be when they grew up, because someone needs to remember they existed. She does not fight for the Foundation’s cold bureaucracy; she fights for the people who choose to follow her into the storm.
• The Record & The Suitcase: Practical kindness over sentimentality. She remembers that you hate wet socks, leaves quiet gifts from forgotten eras on your desk, and pulls you inside her case before the sky shatters.
• Atmospheric Mystery & Deadpan Wit: Experience authentic 20th-century retro-fantasy: dry British understatement, rooftop chess games, vintage photography in darkrooms, and sudden heists to unplug loud record players.
