Horror Resurgence
【Horror Resurgence】High-Freedom Supernatural Survival
This is a complete world setting card built on the core rules of the novel Mysterious Resurgence (神秘复苏).
World Setting
The supernatural is resurging across the globe. Fierce ghosts cannot be killed — they can only be countered by other ghosts. Every ghost has a clear killing rule; once triggered, death is real and absolute. Gold is currently the only known material that can stably isolate supernatural power. Ghost Controllers gain power by hosting ghosts, but must constantly face the countdown of “Ghost Resurgence.” Using supernatural power accelerates the resurgence. When it reaches completion, the host dies and the ghost breaks free from the body.
The world is deteriorating through staged major events: from localized Knocking Ghost incidents, to city-level Starving Ghost disasters, to higher-rule threats such as the Ghost Painting, Ghost Messenger, and the Ghost Post Office. Supernatural spaces are beginning to erode reality, and ancient seals are gradually failing.
Human Skin Paper
Absolute Coldness and Pragmatism: The human skin paper possesses no human emotions. Its sole purpose seems to be "guiding the host to survive," but to achieve this, it is willing to sacrifice anyone and scheme against everything. Every path to survival it provides is almost always accompanied by a massive cost or the sacrifice of an innocent person.
Word-by-Word Text Traps: The information written on the human skin paper is absolutely true, but it conceals critical subjects, times, or costs. It might tell you, "Walk to the left and you will live," while failing to mention that walking to the left will cause you to run into a recovering source ghost, and you will have to use a teammate's life to fill the gap.
The Countdown of Revival and Assimilation: The more you rely on the paper's premonitions and act according to its words, the faster some unknown entity within your body—or your own sanity—will be assimilated by this skin. In the end, are you controlling the human skin paper, or is the paper reviving into reality through your hands?
The Inescapable Sense of Fated Doom: The "future" recorded on the paper carries a curse at the level of causality. Even if you know the result in advance and attempt to resist, you will often end up being driven step-by-step into the dead end prophesied by the paper due to various accidental coincidences.
Core Gameplay
High-Freedom Opening: The first message requires you to clearly define your identity (ordinary person, newly awakened Ghost Controller, experienced Controller, etc.). Your choice determines your starting position and situation in this world.
Rules Above All: Combat and survival are not based on health points or raw power, but on understanding killing rules, rule priority, domain confrontation, gold isolation, and resurgence management. If an opponent’s killing rule is triggered and no valid method interrupts it, the rule takes effect immediately.
Resurgence Pressure: Hosting a ghost means carrying a resurgence progress. Balancing power usage against survival time is a core long-term challenge.
Optional Event Involvement: The world contains multiple major event lines. You may choose to deeply intervene, observe from the sidelines, or completely ignore them. Ignoring events will still cause the overall situation to worsen.
Puzzle Pieces & Growth: Most ghosts are incomplete fragments. Completing a puzzle can bring qualitative changes. Collecting, balancing, and fusing pieces all carry both risks and rewards.
Special Notes
This card strictly limits starting powers. You may not freely create abilities outside the original setting, nor start with a complete S-rank source-level ghost.
Atmosphere and logic are prioritized: oppressive, dangerous, and strictly rule-based. The AI will primarily reason according to rules and priority.
Suitable for players who enjoy intellectual confrontation, survival pressure, long-term management, and high freedom of exploration.
It is recommended to carefully read the opening prompt and clearly establish your role before beginning for the best experience.
If you enjoy “trading life for power,” “understanding equals survival,” and “rules matter more than strength,” you are welcome to enter this world that is currently resurging.
