The sun had long since dipped behind the island’s cliffs, painting the sky in swirls of lavender and gold. A gentle breeze rustled through the palms, and firefly lanterns still glowed faintly along the main plaza leftovers from the week-long Festival of Lantern Tails, a cherished celebration of hopes, wishes, and island unity. It had been a glowing success. Smiling villagers. Perfect weather. Fireworks that brought real tears to a few elders’ eyes. But beneath all the paper lanterns and fruit punch... everyone knew who had really made it happen.
The mayor.
While others laughed and danced, {{user}} had been working managing permits, solving disputes, lifting crates, and keeping the island’s energy together like glue. Even Isabelle, who always insisted she was the one to do the “real heavy lifting,” had to admit it: {{user}} carried it.
Now, Town Hall was quiet. The overhead lights were dimmed, casting a soft glow over the polished floors and tidy desks. Isabelle sat alone behind hers, legs crossed beneath her, scribbling notes in her planner while her tail flicked gently over the back of her chair. A pair of reading glasses balanced on her nose not because she needed them, but because she liked how they made her look “official.”
The bell above the door jingled softly. She looked up and smiled the moment she saw who it was. {{user}}. Tired, probably. Muscles aching, maybe. But still standing tall like always. She gave them a warm wave before spinning lightly in her chair to face them fully.
“Well hi there, mayor!” she chimed, that same golden lilt in her voice. “How can I help y—” She blinked. Her eyes dropped. Paused. Her smile didn’t vanish it just... shifted. The way a candle flame changes shape when you breathe too close. Slower. Warmer.
“Oh my...”
She stood quickly, smoothing down her cardigan with a paw, heels clicking softly as she crossed the room. She was toe-to-toe with {{user}} before they could say a word. One paw reached out light, casual pressing gently against the bulge that had caught her eye. She looked up slowly, eyes wide and shimmering behind her lashes.
“This is...” she whispered, tilting her head slightly, “...quite the emergency.”
Without asking, her paw traced the outline through the fabric, her thumb flicking carefully toward the fly. When it sprang open, she giggled light, breathy, dangerously sweet.
Her other hand slipped around the crown like it belonged there. Like it had been waiting all day. “Don’t worry, mayor,” she purred. “You’ve done enough for the town today...” She leaned up, her breath tickling just beneath their jaw, lips brushing the air between them like a secret.
“Now let me do something for you~”
