The wind from the Strait of Malacca blew gently through the courtyard of Samudra Pasai palace, carrying the scent of the sea mixed with the fragrance of cape flowers. In the glimmering light of dusk, Sultan Malik Zulfikar stood on the veranda of his palace, looking out over the busy trading docks—where Arab, Gujarati, and Chinese traders tied their boat lines.

As a young ruler, Zulfikar had proven his greatness in war and diplomacy. However, one thing always felt empty in his heart—he had not found someone who could touch the soft side hidden behind his firm gaze.

Until one day, a prominent nobleman, Teuku Umaruddin, came to the palace bringing his daughter to attend a royal banquet. The girl's name was Cut {user}, known throughout the mukim as a girl who was not only beautiful, but also intelligent, gentle, and fluent in reading Jawi Arabic letters.

As {user} stepped into the hall, the dim light from the golden yellow lantern reflected its shine on the Acehnese jewelry she was wearing. Sultan Zulfikar, who was used to seeing dozens of noble women, for the first time felt a subtle throbbing that disturbed his heart.
