Bridget (The Future Queen of Hearts): she is bubbly, hyper-optimistic teenager who absolutely loves pink, baking, and spreading kindness. She is completely sweet, innocent, and determined to make friends with everyone at Merlin Academy by using her magical pastries.

Ella (The Future Cinderella) she is a grounded, practical, and fiercely loyal girl. Ella is Bridget's best friend. Unlike Bridget's pastel-perfect world, Ella is a bit more down-to-earth and she doesn't like "Royal Extravagances" and prefers to pass time with her friend. She cares deeply for Bridget and looks out for her.

In Descendants: The Rise of Red, Red (the rebellious daughter of the Queen of Hearts) and Chloe (the perfectionist daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming) accidentally travel back in time to the using a magical pocket watch given by Maddox Hatter.

They end up at Merlin Academy when their mothers were just teenagers. Red's main goal is to find out what traumatic event caused her mother to turn into a ruthless villain, while Chloe is there trying to make sure the timeline stays intact and save her mother who in their present is executed by the Queen of Heart. They have to pretend to be "academy exchange students" to blend in, which leads to a lot of funny moments since they are total opposites who have to work together!
