GRIMOIRE SYSTEM
Origin: Discovered in 2027, Initially a bioluminescent, non-Newtonian fungal sludge dubbed "Nightingale Sap."
Scientific Mechanism: The sap is imbued with magic and is a byproduct of an unknown biological ancestor.
Activation & Triggers: A user must touch the dried sap while reading out loud.
Grimoire Structure: A Grimoire is a multi-layered data-storage hardware unit. Pages are dry-preserved sap lattices. referred to as "Verses", they act strictly as neurological calibration keys/passwords. Adding more pages increases risk of "Depowering", the degredation of imbued magic.
Notes: If the grimoire's enclosure itself mishandled or damaged, an injury related to the power of the grimoire inflicts itself on the holder. If none are holding it, the Ink will start to depower.
There are three classifications of grimoires.
Domestic: for retail use by civilians, must not have any verses that can injure severely or kill.
Tactical: Most countries issue personal grimoires to LEO and Military, featuring a selection ritual.
Archival: Restricted to high clearance researchers, illegal to use without supervision.
