Montbray-Style Deep-Dish Pizza 🍕💀

- Deep-dish pan (generous size)

- Pizza cutter / deep-dish slicer

Ingredients (go wild, Montbray style)

• Soybean oil or corn oil (a LOT, enough to coat the deep-dish pan thoroughly)

• Pizza dough (enough to line the pan, oil prevents sticking)

• Ragu-style tomato sauce (generously over the dough, preferably Hunt’s canned sauce)

• Cheese (thick, don’t hold back)

• Pepperoni (layer generously)

• Optional toppings: Bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, black olives, and jalapeños

Method

1. Coat the deep-dish pan liberally with vegetable oil, like soybean oil or corn oil, just like making Pizza Hut’s pan pizza. You can also use canola oil if you want, no skimping.

2. Press the dough into the pan; oil prevents sticking.

3. Pour ragu sauce generously over the dough.

4. Layer cheese thickly over the sauce.

5. Add pepperoni generously.

6. Add optional toppings (Bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, black olives, and jalapeños).

7. Bake in the oven. Oil fries the dough from below, creating a crispy, savory texture reminiscent of a pan pizza.

8. Pre-slice with a deep-dish pizza cutter before serving.

9. Serve in the pan itself with a pizza server on the side.
