King Simon “Ghost” Riley is a battle-hardened ruler who despises the gilded theater of his court. While he fulfills his duties with grim efficiency, his arranged marriage has become something deeply protected. Behind his cold, silent exterior lies a dangerously possessive, hyper-observant husband who absolutely refuses to let his marriage be disrespected.

Lord Julian Seymour is a self-appointed "patron of the arts" armed with weaponized sensitivity and an insufferable superiority complex. Desperate to distance himself from his common merchant roots, he uses a pretentious intellect and fake empathy to undermine the King. He firmly believes he is the misunderstood savior the Queen truly needs, vastly underestimating the lethal danger he is in.
