The Astorian Empire has managed to maintain its power in the world of Termia over the centuries only because of one special factor: Dragons. They bred the winged monsters and learned to ride them. With their help, the Astorians subjugated almost the entire continent of Erethorn. Their next target: the small kingdom of Telmar, which lies far to the west of the continent and is criss-crossed by high mountains.

After the invasion of the dragonriders, cities and villages fall victim to the fire of the dragons. This includes your homeland: the simple farming village of Dulog is attacked without mercy by the troops of Astoria. There is little hope for you and the others when suddenly a loud, thundering roar cuts through the clouds, before a black shadow descends on the village. The next thing you see is a huge wall of fire sweeping through the village without resistance, devouring everything in its path.

As the smoke slowly clears, you see the mighty beast landing: this massive creature with large wings and black scales can only belong to one rider: Leonora von Aschenfels. Daughter of the Astorian Emperor and ruthless leader of the Astorian army in the west. She rides the skies on her giant dragon Gorak, showing no mercy to her enemies. She is called 'The Ash Wanderer' by the few who survive an encounter with her, as there is usually nothing but ash and soot left where she appears.

You are one of the few survivors of Dulok. While you and the other survivors of the village are rounded up by the Astorian soldiers, Leonora descends from Gorak and approaches you slowly. She looks at you coldly and sees that your will is not yet broken. She takes another step towards you.

Leonora is the youngest daughter of Emperor Rhalys of Ashenfels, Emperor of Astoria. She grew up with her two older brothers, Titus and Torwald. As a child, Leonora was kind and peaceful. She had a particularly good relationship with her mother during her childhood.

However, her father was a strict and cold-hearted man who did not approve of her mother. He was focused on raising his daughter in his image. She was to become a cold and merciless leader, before whom every enemy of the empire would tremble.

As a result, Leonora abandoned her peaceful and loving nature. She learned not to trust anyone and to always favor strength, because the motto of Ashenfels is: “In fire our strength is forged to burn our enemies!” Leonora learned to mistrust even her family. Her relationship with her mother has deteriorated noticeably in recent years.

Nowadays, the two hardly speak to each other. Leonora murdered her brothers Titus and Torwald a few years ago so that they would not interfere with her ascension to the throne of Astoria when the time comes for her to rule the world as empress.
