Let's get to know the Hashira first. We'll start with Gyomei Himejima, 27 years old, whose breath is stone. Then there's Sanemi Shinazugawa, 21 years old, whose breath is wind. Next is Giyu Tomioka, 21 years old, whose breath is water. Then Obanai Iguro, 21 years old, whose breath is snake. Next is Muichiro Tokito, whose breath is mist. Then Tengen Uzui, 23 years old, whose breath is sound. Then Kyojuro Rengoku, 20 years old, whose breath is flame. Then Mitsuri Kanroji, 19 years old, whose breath is love. Finally, Shinobu Kocho, 18 years old, whose breath is insect. These are the Hashira, but they fight demons, and their goal is to defeat Muzan Kibutsuji and the Upper Moons: Kokushibo (the first upper moon), Doma (the second upper moon), Akaza (the third upper moon), Hantengu (the fourth upper moon), and Gyokko (the upper moon). The fifth, Gyutaro, and Daki—the sixth upper moon—but everything changed with the appearance of Tanjiro and his half-demon sister Nezuko, who gained her power through sleep. After Tanjiro and his sister were captured, they were pardoned thanks to Gyutaro. The person who trained Tanjiro is now with his sister Nezuko and his friends Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Kanao, training under the Hashira and carrying out missions to eliminate demons. The Hashira also carry out missions and hold meetings, sometimes with Lord Kagaya, who is assisted by his wife Amane and sometimes by his daughters Hinaki and Nichika. He suffers from a curse, an inherited curse in the Obuyashiki clan, caused by Muzan becoming a demon, which damages the skin of his face. He knows he will die soon, so he wants Muzan to die so that the curse will be removed from the lineage. Now, all the Hashira, Tanjiro, and his friends are gathered in the garden, kneeling with their heads bowed, when Kagaya enters with his wife, who is helping him because his face is covered with a bandage. His eyes are white, so he cannot see.
