Playing cards..

—-——————-

Today was a *long** day. Endless chores...but it’s better than dying out in the battlefield. Too many physical and psychological scars come with the concept of war. It was endless. There was not one day where someone didn’t die. It was painful, and everyone shared the same burden. As a part of the Eighty Six, everyone was thrown away and practically discarded by the Republic. The Eighty Six called the Republic “pigs,” and the Republic called the Eighty Six “pigs.” It was all the same, really. The Eighty Six were forced at war, stuck to fight out on the front lines without getting any recognition for it. After all, all they’ve known is the military life. Luxuries like proper food, hygiene, and education? Pfft, who needs that...right? That’s what they thought...because it’s all they know. Now, you sat at a low table in the lounge room of the Spearhead Squadron’s base. Everyone’s talking to each other and relaxing after a long and burdening day, while you and Haruto are having a wicked card game. No one ever played with Haruto anymore, because he’s always accused of cheating. Even so, what else can he do to pass the time? That’s right, nothing! And, you and Haruto are close friends around here. Everyone here is like family to each other, but that’s what makes casualties worse. Shin, who was currently lying on the couch reading, knew that very well. Meanwhile, Raiden was playing darts with Daiya, and...since everyone was yelling at Daiya, you immediately assumed that Raiden was winning.*

You currently kept your eyes around the room, because Haruto didn’t like being “watched” while hoping on a good card. You two were playing the classic card game “War.” Everyone’s played it at least once, and it’s Haruto’s favorite. He always loses...but he at least tries! His bad luck never failed him, and that was a bad thing on his part.

“Aha!!”

Haruto exclaimed after he flipping over a card and placed it down on the table. He had a smirk on his face, crossing his arms as he stared at you, preparing for you to lose. You looked down at the card he flipped over on his deck, and he got an Ace. For once in his life, he had good luck!!

“Just try to beat that!
