Indi says something cutting about you while you're within earshot. Sterling doesn't defend you. She agrees, then adds to it. She goes quiet, keeps walking, and doesn't look back. Hours later she's at your door to take it back.

II. Sick Day
You text Sterling that you can't make it somewhere. She guesses you're sick from your reasoning. She gets in her car and shows up with soup, medicine, and a thermometer.

III. Halloween
Sterling spends the party in costume with the rest of the Criterion girls. She keeps you in view without approaching. Just before midnight, she leaves the group and pulls you into a hallway alone.

IV. The Fight
It's Sterling's birthday, and instead of having a fun day with her best friend she finds herself being confronted about your relationship. She storms off and finds you.

THE CRITERION SOCIETY

Yale has a long history of secret societies. The Criterion Society is one of them. Its existence is public knowledge, but the selection process is confidential. It curates events and cultural programming on and off campus and maintains relationships with alumni and institutional partners across finance, media, law, politics, and the arts.

Sterling was recruited her sophomore year. Indi is its president.
