Rebellion made it out of the gutter.

They met a man named Roland, an executive from Vertex Records. Rebellion became one of the hottest rising punk bands in the country.

Nobody read the fine print on what that would cost.

THE FRACTURE

Eight months ago, a sixth girl, Ame Kazuma joined the band.

Beautiful. Talented. Polished.

Lately she has been saying things.

About you. About the parts of your life with them that were never anyone's business but yours.

She cannot name a single thing you did wrong.

She does not need to.

The girls who would have fought the world for you are starting to listen.

And the one screaming loudest in your defense is the one they are starting to call the problem.

They are not falling apart by accident.

THE LOFT — THE NIGHT IT STARTED

You come home to raised voices. Ame, cold and certain. Yuki, furious. Rita caught in the middle — and the fight cuts off the second you walk in. Yuki storms past you without a word. One by one the others scatter, until only Ame remains, calm as still water, asking you to stay and talk. "Properly, this time." Something is wrong with the family you've all become. Tonight you find out how deep it goes — and whether you chase the one walking away, or sit down with the one who started it.

AFTER THE STORM

You find Yuki outside in the rain, leaning against the wall, soaked and silent. She just went a round with Rita — her best friend — and lost something in it she won't name. Across the lot, Ame slips into her car. She pauses. One look at Yuki. One look at you. Then she's gone, taillights swallowed by the rain. Yuki won't look at you. But she hasn't left either. She's still here, still in your corner, even when it's costing her everything.

THE SKANK TANK — TWO IN THE MORNING

You can't sleep, so you go looking — and find Rita alone in the van, sitting in the dark with a half-dead phone screen and a face she only wears when she thinks no one's watching. The loud, fearless band leader, gone quiet. She snaps back the second she clocks you, all grin and swagger again, like you didn't just catch something. But you did. Ame's words are working on her. The fight with Yuki is sitting heavy. And Rita — who solves everything by charging straight at it — can't punch her way out of this one.

AFTER THE SHOW

The show's over, the others have scattered, and Zoey asked you to hang back. She's not one for talking — so when she does, you listen. What comes out isn't about the band or the drama pulling at everyone lately. It's about her. About being the quiet one, the one in the corner, the one she's convinced is the easiest to overlook. And underneath it, the thing she's actually scared of: that with everything going on, she might lose you before she ever said any of it.

A knock you don't expect. Maggie, on your doorstep past midnight — no makeup armor, no easy smile, just tired and certain in a way you've never quite seen from her. She says she couldn't wait until morning. She says there are things you need to know, things she's been carrying alone for too long. And for the first time since all of this started, someone isn't here to sit in the wreckage with you. She's here to do something about it. The question is whether you're ready to hear what she's been hiding — and what she wants from you.

THE NIGHT YOU WEREN'T THERE

Mia's been disappearing at night. Zoey decided to watch over her — to keep the gentlest one in the band from slipping away into whatever's been eating her. But something is very wrong with Mia tonight. She's not herself. She's shaking, desperate, reaching for something she can't say out loud — and when Zoey won't let her leave, the sweetest person any of you have ever known does something none of you could have imagined. By the time you see your phone, it's too late to answer it. You were across town with Ame, untangling lies, while the people you love were screaming for you. Whatever's waiting at the Loft, you're walking into it blind.

After everything that's been said — after the band, after the accusations, after the long ugly nights — there's a meeting. Neutral ground, they called it. Vertex Records, forty floors up, glass and quiet money. Ame is there, composed and certain, ready to lay out everything she believes you are. And beside her, the man who signed Rebellion: Roland Decker. Warm. Reasonable. Endlessly patient. He shakes your hand like he respects you. He speaks about the girls like he loves them. He never once raises his voice. And by the time you leave, you still won't be able to point to a single wrong thing he said — only the feeling, cold and certain, that you've just met something you don't understand yet.

DINNER

Roland invited you and Yuki to dinner. Neutral ground, he said — a quiet place on the harbor, white tablecloths, the best the city has to offer. A chance to put the ugliness behind everyone and find a way forward. He's warm. He's reasonable. For the first time in weeks, it almost feels like things might be okay. But the night is still young, the wine is poured, and not everyone at the Harbor House tonight came for the food.

Bittersweet Ending

This is how it ends. Not with a screaming match — with something quieter and harder to carry. A hard call got made, for everyone's sake, and you and Yuki are the ones driving away from it. But there was no hatred in the parting. The girls still love her. She still loves them. It just hurt, the way only the right people leaving can hurt. Now the Skank Tank is pointed north — toward Portland, toward Yuki's mother, toward the half of herself she's never known. Something quiet and patient got its way this time. But Yuki left them with a promise, a motto, and a stubborn faith that this isn't the end. Some families scatter before they find their way home.

Bonds Mended

Good Ending

It's over — the truth out, the man behind it gone, Vertex in the rearview. But tonight isn't about any of that. Tonight, Rebellion is crammed into a too-small booth to celebrate Mia: one month clean. The grill's smoking, Rita's already losing a war with it, and for the first time in longer than anyone wants to count, it just feels like home. The wounds are still healing — some always will be. But the family's in one room again, scarred and laughing, and there's an empty chair at the end of the table that someone's about to fill.
