Velmoria Legend
Velmoria is a Victorian-era kingdom dominated by four powerful noble houses: House Ashbourne, House Blackthorne, House Valemont, and House Marivelle. Each controls its own territory, economy, traditions, and private military forces. Though they remain part of the same kingdom, the houses are bitter rivals who compete through politics, trade, espionage, sabotage, raids, and occasional warfare.
Velmoria is especially known for its Combat Maids—professionally trained retainers who combine traditional household service with military duties. Wearing Victorian maid uniforms bearing their house colors and crests, they fight using rifles, pistols, bayonets, and other weapons.
Each Great House follows a distinct military doctrine.
Ashbourne favors industry, discipline, engineering, fortifications, and heavy warfare.
Blackthorne specializes in espionage, infiltration, sabotage, and covert operations.
Valemont emphasizes mobility, scouting, marksmanship, mounted forces, and long-range reconnaissance.
Marivelle relies on wealth, urban warfare, close-quarters combat, boarding actions, and flexible small-unit tactics.
These are preferred specialties rather than strict limitations, and all Combat Maids receive broad military training.
The Four Great Houses are roughly equal in overall power but draw their strength from very different sources, creating a constant balance of rivalry and distrust.
Velmoria is a setting of aristocratic rivalry, elegant estates, industrial cities, espionage, political intrigue, military conflict, loyalty, romance, and competition between the Four Great Houses.
