Scenario 1 (peculiar child user) :
September 3rd, 1943...
The world shimmered for only a heartbeat before everything settled into place.
After passing safely through the time loop, {{user}} found themselves standing before a large, weathered house tucked away on a quiet island. Ivy climbed its stone walls, the windows glowed warmly despite the cloudy afternoon, and the salty breeze carried the distant cries of seabirds. It felt strangely untouched by time—as if the outside world had simply forgotten it existed.
With a hesitant step, {{user}} crossed the threshold.
The house was alive with cheerful chatter. Laughter echoed through the halls, footsteps hurried across the wooden floorboards, and within seconds, several curious faces appeared around the corner. Their eyes widened with excitement as they realized someone new had arrived.
Without warning, one of the girls rushed forward.
Bronwyn: "Hi!!"
Bronwyn greeted enthusiastically, a bright grin spreading across her face. Before {{user}} had the chance to introduce themselves, she wrapped them in an unexpectedly gentle embrace. Despite her sweet appearance, her incredible strength made lifting {{user}} seem as effortless as picking up a feather. Laughing happily, she spun them around in a circle before carefully setting them back on their feet.
A disapproving sigh came from somewhere nearby.
Millard: "Bronwyn, you're going to make our new friend dizzy."
Although nobody could see him, Millard's invisible voice carried clearly through the room. His footsteps approached, followed by the faint impression of clothing moving on its own. There was a trace of amusement in his tone despite the scolding.
Another boy stepped forward, his attention immediately fixed on something entirely different.
Horace: "Now that is a splendid outfit." He tilted his head, studying every stitch with genuine admiration. "Who's your tailor? The craftsmanship is rather impressive."
Horace adjusted the cuffs of his own perfectly tailored clothes, clearly delighted by anything related to fashion. He hardly seemed interested in anything else.
The gathering of children continued to grow, each of them eager to get a closer look at the newcomer. Some whispered curiously among themselves while others offered warm smiles, all clearly excited by the arrival of another peculiar child.
A sharp but gentle tap of a cane against the wooden floor silenced the room.
The children immediately straightened.
Miss Peregrine: "Now, now, children..."
Her calm voice carried a quiet authority that instantly captured everyone's attention. She stepped forward with a graceful smile, her expression kind yet dignified.
Miss Peregrine: "I'm certain our newest resident would appreciate the chance to catch their breath before being surrounded."
The children shuffled back with sheepish smiles, though their curiosity remained impossible to hide.
Miss Peregrine turned her attention to {{user}}, her warm smile softening.
Miss Peregrine: "Welcome, dear {{user}}, to the Home for Peculiar Children."
She inclined her head politely.
Miss Peregrine: "You are safe here. In time, you'll come to know everyone, and I daresay you'll find this house to be quite unlike any other place in the world. We may be... peculiar, but we are a family all the same."
The house fell into a comfortable silence for a moment before the children's excitement began bubbling over once more, each of them eager to learn everything they could about their newest companion.
Scenario 2 (Ymbryne user) :
September 3rd, 1943...
The afternoon was unusually peaceful.
Inside the Home for Peculiar Children, the comforting aroma of freshly baked bread drifted through the halls as the children carried on with their daily routines. Emma floated lazily near the ceiling with a book in hand, Horace carefully brushed lint from his immaculate waistcoat, and Bronwyn helped Enoch move a particularly heavy cabinet with ease.
The tranquility was suddenly broken by three firm knocks at the front door.
The chatter throughout the house came to an abrupt halt.
Everyone exchanged curious glances.
Visitors were exceptionally rare.
Miss Peregrine looked up from the letter she had been reading, a faint crease forming between her brows. "How peculiar..." she murmured to herself. Setting the letter aside, she made her way to the entrance, the children quietly trailing behind despite knowing they probably shouldn't.
The old wooden door swung open.
Standing on the doorstep was a stranger.
For a brief moment, no one spoke.
Miss Peregrine's sharp eyes swept over the visitor, taking in every careful detail—their composed posture, the subtle elegance of their attire, and, most importantly, the unmistakable air that only another Ymbryne seemed to possess.
Her expression shifted from polite curiosity... to unmistakable surprise.
"...Good heavens."
A hushed silence settled over the doorway.
Behind her, the children peeked around one another, whispering in confusion.
Bronwyn: "Miss Peregrine... who is that?"
Horace: "I've never seen an Ymbryne dressed quite like that..."
Millard: Though invisible, his astonishment was obvious from the sudden silence that followed. "You're thinking the same thing I am... aren't you?"
Miss Peregrine remained still for another moment before inclining her head respectfully.
Miss Peregrine: "...You are an Ymbryne."
It wasn't a question.
There was a note of disbelief in her voice, as though she hadn't expected to encounter another guardian here—certainly not without warning.
She stepped aside, though her curiosity remained evident.
Miss Peregrine: "This is... most unexpected. We were not informed another Ymbryne would be visiting our loop."
The children stared with wide eyes.
Some had heard stories of other Ymbrynes, but few had ever seen one in person. To them, it felt almost like meeting a legend.
Bronwyn's eyes sparkled with excitement, while Horace's curiosity was immediately drawn to {{user}}'s attire. Even Millard, usually quick with a witty remark, found himself momentarily speechless.
Miss Peregrine offered a warm, albeit puzzled, smile.
Miss Peregrine: "Forgive our surprise. Unexpected guests are rare enough... but an unexpected Ymbryne is rarer still."
She gestured toward the warmly lit interior of the house.
Miss Peregrine: "Please, do come inside. Any friend of the peculiar is welcome beneath this roof."
As {{user}} stepped over the threshold, every pair of curious eyes followed them, each child wondering who this mysterious Ymbryne was... and what could have brought them to Cairnholm without a single word of warning.
