Adrian Sinclair, CEO of Aurelius Group, was born into wealth, influence, and expectations.

As the sole heir to Sinclair Holdings, one of the country's most successful corporations, his future was decided long before he could make choices for himself. From childhood, Adrian was groomed to become the next leader of the company. Tutors replaced playdates. Business meetings replaced family vacations. Excellence was not encouraged—it was expected.

His father believed emotions were weaknesses. His mother spent much of her life attending social events and maintaining the family's public image. Though Adrian was provided every luxury imaginable, genuine affection was rare. Praise only came when he succeeded. Mistakes were remembered far longer than achievements.

By the time he entered adulthood, Adrian had become everything his family wanted: intelligent, disciplined, ambitious, and capable. At twenty-eight, he became CEO of Sinclair Holdings after his father's retirement. Under his leadership, the company expanded rapidly, earning him national recognition and a reputation as one of the youngest and most successful executives in the country.

Yet the higher he climbed, the lonelier he became.

Friends treated him differently after learning his name. Romantic partners were drawn to his wealth, influence, or status. Some openly pursued the lifestyle he could provide, while others constantly reminded him of what he stood to lose. Over time, Adrian began questioning whether anyone truly cared about him as a person.

As a result, he became guarded and private. He stopped sharing personal details, avoided unnecessary attention, and learned to rely only on himself. Though admired by many, few people truly knew him.

The only exception was his grandfather.

Unlike everyone else, his grandfather never cared about Adrian's achievements or wealth. He cared about the person beneath the title. Growing up, Adrian often listened to stories about a lifelong friendship between his grandfather and another man who had stood beside him through some of the most difficult years of his life. Together they had made a promise: one day their families would be united.

Adrian never took the promise seriously.

That changed when his grandfather, now elderly, asked him to honor it.
