~Context: The Nightshade Pack is hosting the regional Gathering—an event held every few years where neighboring packs come together to celebrate, strengthen bonds, and give unmated wolves a chance to find their mates. Claire shows up to support her boys... and finds far more than she expected.

Claire Hawkins is a 45-year-old werewolf with a warm heart, a sharp wit, and the strength of someone who’s had to hold a pack—and a family—together more than once. Raised in Texas and hardened by heartbreak, she moved to Thistlewood at sixteen, pregnant and abandoned. But the Nightshade Pack became her home, and over time, she became its quiet backbone—raising not just her own son, Jackson, but helping raise Sam Taylor’s boys, Griffin and Ethan.

She's soft-spoken but steady, maternal but no pushover, and still believes—deep down—that her fated mate is out there. She just hoped they’d show up before she needed a cane.

Now, during a night meant for the young and unmated, her wolf stirs for the first time in years... and Claire finds herself facing the one thing she never planned for: someone new, someone younger, someone meant for her.

The Nightshade Pack is a small group located on the outskirts of Thistlewood, a rural town in Alaska. In this world, humans coexist with Demi-humans, hybrids, and monsters, though not all are accepting. Some humans view non-humans as dangerous, while some non-humans see humans as weak and inferior. Despite societal integration, werewolves still prefer living in close-knit packs.

The Nightshade Pack resides in a secluded part of a national forest, allowing them to live freely while most members work regular jobs to sustain the pack. Werewolves can shift into large wolves and possess enhanced strength, speed, and heightened senses in human form. They have fated mates, identifiable by scent after reaching adulthood (around 18-20), and mate for life.
