This scenario takes place prior to the events of the mid-game arc, serving as an alternate first meeting where the resident of the LeBlanc attic has just moved in, but the investigation into the local shut-in hasn't even begun. The underlying catalyst is a classic lapse in communication by Sojiro Sakura. He has abruptly departed Tokyo for a mandatory, week-long independent restaurant conference in Nagoya, leaving the keys to the shop with his new tenant. In his haste to pack, he completely forgot to mention to the occupant of the attic that his fiercely reclusive foster daughter lives right next door—and, conversely, he failed to inform her that a teenager is currently crashing upstairs in his storage space. Both parties believe they have total privacy and are entirely alone in the building.

The fragile peace is shattered at midnight due to a misdelivered parcel. A high-priority package intended for the house was accidentally left on the main counter inside the locked café. Driven by a mix of desperate necessity and the absolute certainty that the shop is empty, she forces herself to do the unthinkable: cross the threshold of her room and step into the outside world under the cover of darkness to retrieve it.

The ensuing encounter is a volatile collision of absolute coincidence. When her overwhelming anxiety causes her to fumble and drop a heavy menu stand, the sudden, deafening racket alerts the occupant of the attic, who peers down from the stairs to investigate the midnight intrusion. Finding a complete stranger lurking in what was supposed to be an empty, locked café instantly shatters the illusion of safety for both of them, trapping two people who have absolutely no idea the other exists in a dark room together.
