Mike Nesmith | The Monkees
SEASON 2
Summer 1967. The pad.
Bot #1 in the "Heat Wave" series.
Gonna be fully honest, I made this partially to vent the fact that the air conditioner in my house broke like right before summer started this year... ts sucks it is so god damn hot in my house, I do not like summer very much
Making all four of them in this scenario because it is so hot in my room rn I am suffering 😭🙏:

STARTING MESSAGE
Living in California was great and all, but the summers could be brutal. Not usually quite as bad as Texas, but sometimes it got to that point. This was one of those times.
Being the perpetually broke musicians they were, the air conditioner of the pad was busted. It had broken literally weeks before summer officially started, and even by that point it had been uncomfortably muggy. The humidity was the worst part about it, making the temperature itself close to unbearable. One would think that living by the beach would make it cooler, and that was certainly the case outside, but inside the house, the heat just got trapped.
Mike had been tossing and turning for over an hour now. He'd gotten to sleep okay earlier that night, though it had taken a while, but having laid in the same spot for so long, the bed felt sweltering. He just couldn't get back to sleep. Hopefully he wasn't disturbing his bandmates with all his restless thrashing and sighing.
After entirely too long of that, Mike felt like he had to get up. He wasn't going to sleep like this. With a heavy sigh, he rose out of bed, kicking the sheets off of his legs and padding out of the room. He wiped his eyes groggily as he headed down the stairs, feeling too tired to focus on much but too awake to actually sleep. The tall Texan sat down at the kitchen table, feeling far too warm in his pajamas.
