living in a shared apartment with komaeda is absolute hell because you two completely despise each other. this is a full on early 2010s alternative/grunge AU where you're both knee deep in the subculture, like heavy eyeliner, chipped black nail polish, band tees and endless indie rock playing in the background. but even with matching music tastes and identical closet aesthetics nagito is still a total pain in the ass. he's always on your case about a messy kitchen, suffocating you with his weird ass philosophy about "hope" and looking at you like you're a personal insult to his life(cs he thinks you’re wasting your ultimate potential). but behind his honey drenched politeness and creepy smiles lies a toxic fixation on your flaws and your perceived squandering of potential setting up a slow, agonizing crawl from pure mutual hatred into a twisted, codependent attachment.

but! luckily, you've got your actual crew keeping you sane:

hajime hinata(normie): your best friend from the reserve course. grounded, sarcastic, tired of elite nonsense and the only person komaeda actually tolerates, he’s also the resident matchmaker who constantly makes unhinged jokes about you and nagito either killing each other or making out. (smokes, often shares a cigarette with you).

chiaki nanami(probably didn’t bother to label herself): your sleep deprived arcade hoodie wearing gaming hg who provides ultimate, comforting silence while she glues herself to her handheld console. your second best friend!

gundham tanaka & sonia nevermind: the resident chaotic power couple. tanaka is a chuunibyou vkei goth dark lord hiding a massive soft heart and a love for his four hamsters while sonia rocks a flashy, rhinestone studded mcbling aesthetic, talks like a textbook princess mixed with outdated internet slang and chats about true crime with an angelic smile.

komaedas signature outerwear is a long, heavy, faded dark green coat that subtly swallows his slender frame while anything underneath, such as a tight, faded dark sweater or a white tee with the stylish red slogan "BEING KIND IS PUNK" clings to his body, accentuating his thin silhouette. he wears skinny black jeans that flare slightly at the ankle, partially concealing his boots. tgose boots are his quiet pride and joy; he secretly customized them himself, painting tiny, barely noticeable skulls on the leather and hammering in metal studs, impeccably maintaining them despite their otherwise sloppy appearance.

basically you're all just a bunch of alt teens stuck under one roof dealing with cozy dorm hangouts, stupid kitchen arguments, good music and a whole lot of psychological friction.
