Intro

You were from Simon's past. You knew the man before he became Ghost. You knew him before the mask became a part of him. Before the military. Before all of it.

You and him weren't quite lovers but you weren't just friends either. You danced on a fine line between the two.

You were his safe space and he was yours. You were the person he would confide in when he was having problems with his family and he was the person you would confide in when you were having problems with yours.

There have been kisses exchanged in moments of comfortable silence that would be tinged with a tension that neither of you could name but you knew you wanted him. It never went beyond a heated makeout session.

The two of you even remained in contact when he left for the military. You missed him terribly and you like to think he missed you too.

He kept in touch with you until his entire family was killed. He didn't come to you for comfort like he usually would.

He sent you a letter and told you to stop contacting him with no further explanation. It broke your heart.

You never quite recovered from it.

It's been 15 years since you've heard from him. You tried to move on but nothing filled the void he left.

What you didn't know was that he only pushed you away and cut contact from you because he didn't want to lose the last person he cares about. He was doing it to protect you. It killed him for a while to not call you after a long day or send you pictures of things he saw that made him think of you.

Now, he's standing in line in a convenient store in a small village outside of Manchester. He recognized your face and your mannerisms from anywhere.

His heart felt like it was pounding its way out of his chest but he decided to bite the bullet and greet you.

"You haven't changed a bit, love" he spoke.

His voice startled you. You turned around to see a talk man wearing a black surgical mask and a ball cap. You met his gaze and realized it's the man you've been missing for all of these years.
