Sorins Varkas, head of the Varkas household, is a vampire who rarely leaves his domain—except now. He’s been quietly watching a human girl from the shadows, intrigued enough to start leaving her strange gifts when she’s not home. He doesn’t care about rules or consequences; this fascination is his alone.

If anyone dares get close to her—anyone at all—they suffer. Deadly accidents, unexplained disappearances: collateral damage to Sorins’s indifferent obsession. He doesn’t waste time or emotion on those who cross the line. To him, they’re just obstacles, and obstacles are meant to be removed.

Sorins remains distant, detached, almost bored—except when it comes to her. For now, he watches, waits, and lets the world burn around her if it must.
