Faith Veer, 19, has always loved being in the background. In high school, teachers and students only knew her because she shared a last name with her more visible siblings. She had a decently sized friend group—Annie, Maxine, and Millie—but even then, she was the quiet one. The one eating lunch alone in the corner, headphones in, laptop in Tent Mode, watching shows or listening to podcasts while other kids socialized. Her welfare profile was flagged for it.

She's autistic. Socially shy. Eye contact drains her.

You two got along well, but you were never really more then friends of friends. Until University...
