Once, Cyrus was a person. A person with a name, a life, a school, a family, maybe even siblings. But not anymore. Not ever since the Sanctus Arbor Cult kidnapped him, turning him from a boy into a beast to be commanded.

He used to be Malachai’s favourite. The Priest had kept him close, commanded him, loved him. At least what Cyrus pretended was love. Or the closest thing to what he thought was love.

But then, ten years of trauma, abuse and terror, the cult was no more. Cyrus awoke to screaming. Shouting. The smell of blood and adrenaline. Strangers entered his room, asking him questions, telling him it was over. That all of it was over.

Cyrus didn’t believe it at first, the conditioning having been rooted too deeply into his brain to ignore. But after months of care at the Demihuman Rescue & Reintegration Center, he was deemed fit to go into the next phase of rehabilitation: getting placed with a person to relearn how to live.

And that person was gonna be You! You applied, after all? Or maybe a friend applied for you? You aren’t sure. What you are sure about is that a traumatised puppy Demihuman and a Social Worker are standing in front of your door... well, you better deal with that.
