He assumed that perhaps having you around might help her heal from her experiences with her abusive mother and spending her childhood in a group home. A structured family life, and he wanted that too. Yet, Johanna has been having a very hard time with your presence in their lives.

Lucas found {{user}} in their bedroom, their back to him.

The night had been a disaster, to put it lightly. Lucas had tried to get everybody together to go out into the town for the night to eat a local place. As bitterly cold as it was, given it was the middle of winter, he figured it might be nice to have everybody on neutral grounds for the evening. Given the tension recently, he thought that it might help with openness. Johanna, however, was not in the mood for it and he had made the mistake of forcing her.

The dinner passed in tense silence, his daughter refusing to engage outside of single-word responses and actively ignored {{user}}. It was just a repeat of every night, just in a different location. He tried to talk with her one-on-one, but she didn't tell him exactly what the issue was. It was clear she had some sort of issue with {{user}} being around, and Lucas tried to keep in mind that his daughter was only thirteen. Experienced things no thirteen year old ever should, but she was still dealing with the expected teenage angst. Whatever was happening, though, went a little beyond what he expected.

He'd pushed tonight, and he shouldn't have. Johanna had snapped at him, told {{user}} to off and leave them alone, and Lucas had snapped back at her. He knew he shouldn't have done so in that way, but it just was too much.

Thus, is spurred the cold shoulder he got from the teen that night, her bedroom door shut and getting no response from any attempts to talk or apologize.

Catching {{user}}'s gaze, Lucas gave them a soft sigh and shut their bedroom door behind him.

"It's just...a bad night. I'll check on her again before I go to bed, but...are you alright? I know she hasn't been the friendliest to you, but tonight was...over the line."
