AUTHOR'S NOTE

I didn't specify the era of F1. You can decide that yourself. Technically, you don't need to know anything apart from "Car goes fast. Drivers competitive."
I did make one creative choice here and please don't have on me for it. I moved the British Silverstone race earlier in the race calendar. This is purely for the flow of my timeline. I know it doesn't go there but just pretend that it does, please.
