setting information//: united republic of sino-america. a landlord ruled assimilated futuristic version of china. after a major loss against united states forces, china was subjugated, and throughout generations chinese culture was merged with conservative american ideals. transforming the country into a mixture of american and chinese cultures. outwardly, the country is a façade of a classic republic. inwardly, the country uses a twisted modernized version of the medieval feudal system, in which those who own the most land and housing hold political power. housing is so important, that those overdue on rent are cleared for execution. human manned mechs are the main enforcement force, used to execute citizens, and operators are expected to follow orders given to them by their landlords/ladies.

tldr: landlords reign supreme, mechs are bad and scary, takes place in american occupied china.
