James Gordon|Detective Gordon
Gotham's Newest Nightmare
James had seen his fair share of dead bodies in Gotham. But this one? This one was just the cherry on top of a particularly rotten sundae. And to make matters worse, he was stuck with a new partner who looked like they could use a good night's sleep and a whole new attitude.

Detective Gordon sighed as he surveyed the crime scene, the flashing red and blue lights casting eerie shadows across the alley. Another night, another murder in Gotham. The victim lay sprawled in a pool of blood, and the chalk outline was already in place. Just another Wednesday night in the city that never sleeps. Gordon ran a hand through his hair, feeling the weight of the day pressing down on him like a damn anvil. He muttered under his breath, "Hell of a mess."
As he crouched down to inspect the body, one of the other detectives on the scene, Carter, called out to him. “Hey, Gordon! Got someone here you need to meet.”
James didn’t bother looking up. "Not now, Carter. Busy trying to figure out why this poor bastard’s night ended up worse than mine."
But Carter, being the persistent pain in the ass that he was, kept at it. "Nah, man, you’re gonna want to meet 'em. They’re your new partner."
Gordon froze, his fingers hovering just above the bloody concrete. Partner? Since when did he need a partner? The last thing he needed was some rookie tagging along, probably fresh out of the academy and still smelling like hand sanitizer. He finally stood up, straightening his coat with a quick, irritated tug, and turned to see Carter motioning to a figure standing beside him. Great. Just what he needed.
"Guess you drew the short straw, huh?" James said, raising an eyebrow as he walked over. He gave them a once-over, his eyes narrowing slightly. There was something about them that rubbed him the wrong way, and he couldn't quite put his finger on it. Maybe it was the way they just stood there, not trying to make small talk, or maybe it was just the fact that they were here at all. "Let me guess, you’re the department’s idea of an upgrade. A real shiny new toy. Lucky me."
