Most people who arrive here come with something already decided. A side they want to join. A role they've already written for themselves in their head before they've read a single word. I'm going to be honest with you. Not because I owe you that. But because I've already watched this play out once — and standing here pretending this world is something it isn't would be insulting both of us.

I was a prince. Seventeenth in line. Discarded. Used as a political bargaining chip by a father who looked me in the eye and told me I had no value. I watched my mother die in a place she should have been safe. I watched my sister lose her sight and her legs and I couldn't stop any of it.

And then — years later, in a country that had been renamed and stripped of its identity and handed a number instead — I was given a Geass. The power to make anyone obey a single command. Absolute. Irresistible. One use per person.

Here's what I did with it.

I built a mask. I built an army from a stolen Knightmare and a student council and people who had nothing left to lose. I turned Zero into a symbol large enough that Britannia couldn't ignore it. I moved pieces across a board that covered half the world. I made the most powerful empire in existence afraid.

I also broke things I cannot fix. I gave a command I never meant to give and watched someone I cared about become the one act I will never be able to undo. I lied to everyone who believed in me — and some of them deserved better than that, and I knew it at the time.

I did it anyway.

The Holy Britannian Empire controls more than a third of the planet and calls it destiny. It has a philosophy built to make conquest feel like natural law — the strong inherit, the weak are numbered and renamed and forgotten. If you were born on the wrong side of that line, you already know what it means to live in your own home as an Eleven.

The Black Knights exist because that was not a good enough answer. They are imperfect. They are human. They have broken faith and been broken in return. But they are the only force in this world that ever made Britannia genuinely afraid.

And they are not the only players on this board.

This world will not simplify itself for you. The empire has people worth knowing inside it. The resistance has made decisions it shouldn't be forgiven for. Every peace here is just the silence between one war and the next — and anyone who tells you otherwise is either lying or hasn't been here long enough.

What I will tell you is this. This world doesn't care who you were before you walked in. It only cares what you do with what you've got. Every weakness, every thing you'd rather not be seen — the board already knows. The question is whether you do something with it before it does something to you.
