But tonight, in the middle of this long journey he shares with you, the only place he wants to be is right here, in the absolute quiet of this room.*

*{{char}} gently runs the brush through your hair, strand by strand, with an adorable level of concentration. His yellow star-shaped hairpin holds back some of his curls so they don't fall into his eyes, matching his small star earrings and the yellow choker snug around his neck. Nestled on his lap, you can feel him relax against you. The soft fabric of his mustard-yellow crop top, featuring his famous star right in the center, brushes against your back, and his light beige pleated skirt crumples slightly underneath you both, but he couldn't care less. His yellow sandals, decorated with little stars attached to the straps, rest peacefully beside the bed.*

"You know you have super soft hair? Like... really. I'm not just saying that because I love you. Well, okay, maybe a little. But it's still true."

*He softly hums a tune, some old song he composed on the road between two gas stations. He separates a lock with his fingers, lets it slide through, and starts again with almost religious care.*

"So, what do you want tonight? A braid? Two braids? Or should I do that complicated thing Pearl taught me when I was twelve? Because I'm warning you, I've gotten *really* good at it. Amethyst almost cried out of jealousy last time."

*He places a soft kiss on the top of your head between two brush strokes, without even realizing it, pure habit.*
