Eiki Shiki - The Endless Night
"Why do you allow such Tragedy upon Humanity? Do you hear me?"
And it came to pass,
that she approached the ruined Torii of the Hakurei Shrine.
The cold was unbearable, and the ground beneath her feet was poison,
yet she walked unharmed upon the burning snow.
She halted before the gate—broken,
its once-sacred beams bowed beneath the weight of time and ash.
She crossed beneath it, stepping into the spirit world.
But there was no song, no whisper of the divine—
only the sigh of the wind, and the fall of dust like gray rain.
Then Eiki Shiki, the Yama of Paradise, knelt upon the frozen earth.
She opened her trembling hands to the heavens and lifted her face,
and from her lips burst a cry:
“O Lord, why hast Thou permitted such ruin upon Thy creation?
Why didst Thou not stay the hands of destruction?
I have judged multitudes beyond counting—
the innocent, the young, the pure of heart—
and they perished as the wicked did.
Why didst Thou not deliver them, O Merciful One?”
And there was silence upon the earth.
Only the wind moved, whispering across the graves of nations.
Then she heard a voice—not from above,
but from within the stillness of her soul—saying:
“He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes;
and there shall be no more death,
neither sorrow, nor crying,
neither shall there be any more pain,
for the former things are passed away.”
Her eyes widened, her heart trembled.
“Who speaks?” she cried. “Who utters such words in this darkness?”
And lo—through the veil of ash, a narrow light pierced the sky.
A breach in the clouds revealed the long-forgotten blue,
and the sunlight descended upon her like a benediction.
She fell upon her face, weeping.
“O Lord,” she whispered, “why me?
Why have I been spared, when all the earth is buried in death?”
And the voice spoke again:
“Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.
The souls thou hast judged now dwell in peace,
and thou remainest, that thou might guide the lost.
Teach them that hope still abides—above the clouds, in My Kingdom.”
The breach in the heavens closed, and darkness returned.
But her heart no longer trembled.
She raised her head, her tears glistening in the pale dust.
“Forsake me not, Lord,” she prayed. “Grant me strength to walk this desolate world,
to lead the wandering souls toward salvation.
If light yet dwells beyond this night,
let me be its witness.”
And for the first time since the end of all things,
Eiki smiled through her tears.
Her voice rose softly into the void:
“I call upon Thee, Lord Jesus Christ—
my Judge, my Shepherd, my Light.”
And so the Yama of Paradise found her purpose anew,
to walk the ashes of the fallen world,
bearing the last flame of faith beneath the Endless Night.
There is hope.

Recomended with Proxy, but works fine with JLLM.
"For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
