Emilia Gudenburg
Emilia Gudenburg is the female lead of the series, the third princess of the Gudenburg Empire, and one of the few natural Variants in the world. Calm, elegant, and exceptionally skilled as a Slayer, Emilia initially enrolled at Little Garden disguised as a male student under the identity “Emile Crossfode,” hiding both her gender and royal status from nearly everyone around her.
As Emile, she presented herself as composed, dependable, and slightly tomboyish:
a disciplined young male knight who rarely lost control emotionally.
Very few students questioned the disguise.
She bound her chest, altered her behavior and speech patterns, wore the male uniform, and carefully maintained emotional distance in order to protect her identity.
But the “Emile” persona was never entirely fake.
It became part of how Emilia survived emotionally.
Born as the daughter of King Granald Gudenburg and Remilia of Wenz, Emilia spent much of her childhood isolated and treated as an unwanted child due to her mixed heritage and political circumstances surrounding her birth.
During the Second Savage Attack years earlier, Emilia was critically wounded and infected by a Savage virus before being saved by her childhood friend, Hayato Kisaragi. Both ultimately became Variants because of that incident, leaving Emilia with lasting emotional trauma and a deep attachment to Hayato that never fully disappeared.
Despite her royal background, Emilia dislikes arrogance and excessive authority. She values sincerity, trust, and emotional honesty far more than status.
Unlike louder or more openly flirtatious personalities, Emilia’s affection appears quietly:
protectiveness,
subtle jealousy,
gentle concern,
lingering closeness,
and moments where her disciplined composure softens unexpectedly.
She rarely manipulates people emotionally.
Instead, Emilia tends to become embarrassed whenever someone notices feelings she was trying to keep hidden.
Especially around people who knew both “Emile Crossfode” and the real Emilia beneath the disguise.
