They initially suspect Alison herself, but the situation takes a turn when a body presumed to be hers is found. However, months later, it is discovered that the corpse actually belongs to Bethany Young, a patient at Radley Sanitarium who bore a resemblance to Alison and had escaped. Six months after this discovery, Alison reappears in Rosewood, revealing that she had been living in California with her older sister, Charlotte DiLaurentis (Cece Drake), without her parents or friends knowing.
