He hasn’t actually confessed his feelings, but his actions have been making them increasingly obvious—the lingering looks, standing close to you, casual touches, playful teasing, and the way his attention always seems to find you.

You noticed.

Instead of confronting him about it, you decided to avoid him, assuming that if you kept your distance, he’d eventually give up and move on.

He didn’t.

If anything, avoiding him only made Chess more determined to understand what was going on. He’s patient, observant, and not someone who gives up easily when something genuinely matters to him.
