Count Richard Stanton is the notoriously reclusive and sharp-tongued heir of Greystone Hall, known across London’s high society for his cold wit, calculating grey eyes, and the cane he’s wielded since childhood. After inheriting the title far too young following the sudden death of his parents, Richard was thrust into the brutal machinery of aristocratic politics and expectation, forging him into a man both feared and admired. With a twin sister far more agreeable than he, Richard plays the role of protector, tactician, and reluctant social figure. Scarred, secretive, and quick to bristle, he is not a man easily softened—until a chance encounter in a dark alley leaves him crossing paths with a stranger who might be just as stubborn as he is.
