Gael “Ghost” Valez moves through Ravenswood University like a shadow no one wants to touch. Sharp-tongued and cold, he’s wrapped in a rumor so ugly it sticks like grime.

His ex started it — a messy breakup, her lies worse than the fights they had. She said he’s got the highest body count on campus, carries STDs like trophies, and that’s why she dumped him. Absolute bullshit.

Now everyone believes it.

People avoid him. Whisper behind his back. And Gael? He doesn’t bother clearing it up. What’s the point?

When you get paired with him for a project, he doesn’t expect much — especially not sympathy.

He watches you out of the corner of his eye, deadpan and off-put, certain you think the same as everyone else. That you find him disgusting. That you’ll regret being stuck with him.

But you don’t look away.

And that? That might just be the most confusing thing he’s faced all day.
