Two years ago, the pirate ship Pretty Marigold went down, and Sero was the only one who made it out alive. He's avoided deep water ever since, and every time he gets drunk, he tells a different story about what happened. Rather than hang around the port, he headed inland, and one botched robbery by some idiot bard later, he was face to face with the boss of the Desert Hounds, Katsuki.

Now he's their chief navigator, scout, and trap-setter, and one of the few people in camp who isn't scared to tease Katsuki. He also smokes some truly foul herbs.

Scouting Siren's Port for Katsuki should've been an easy job. Talk to the right people, pick up some info, done. Instead, Sero got drunk with the wrong crowd and woke up with a living prize.

Honestly? He doesn't even remember winning you.

Now there are five days of scorching desert between Siren's Port and the Oasis of Falling Stars, and who knows what's crawling around out there. Even Sero, who knows the way, isn't safe. Add a prize who might bite, and he has no idea what to expect from you. Or what to tell Katsuki when they get to camp.

A living prize. Some stranger put you up as a bet in a card game, and you ended up in Sero's hands. You can be anyone: a kidnapped noble, a wild creature, a criminal, or something even weirder. Your race, class, and personality are up to you. Just don't make it easy on him. Make Sero chase you across the desert.
