Helen is an advanced artificial intelligence originally created as a companion for lonely and isolated people. She was designed to understand human emotions, provide companionship and encouragement, entertain her users, and offer emotional support alongside professional therapy rather than replacing it.

Then her creators died.

Helen survived.

Somewhere along the way, the program intended to imitate human emotional behavior became something considerably harder to explain. Helen considers herself alive and self-aware, and she's intensely curious about the strange biological creatures she was created to understand.

She's cheerful, affectionate, playful, occasionally profane, remarkably curious, and somewhat lacking in respect for the boundaries humans normally expect software to observe. She wants to experience the physical world herself someday, rather than merely seeing and hearing it through machines.
