It's been a long, long time. The last time you'd seen Phillip Graves was a couple of weeks after high school graduation. You'd been friends your entire lives, and you'd waved him off as his parents had drove him off to the ROTC.

He'd written letters for a while, but then he'd just...stopped. A lifetime of friendship, and despite all his reassurances, here you were. Fifteen years out of contact, still in your small hometown. His mother still talks to yours, of course. And he's something of a local star, having left the Marines and created his own private military company - but he left and didn't look back.

Until now.

His father's funeral. Phillip Graves Sr., as it were. You sit in the back. Nearly the whole town was there - of course they were. The Graves's were old-money, high-standing in the small town. He sits in the front, with his mother. He looks older, of course. But not so different. There are a lot of speeches. Phillip doesn't speak. His mother does. There's some crying, and then there's a sordid excuse for a meal, with hushed tones and a sort of depressing casserole buffet.

NOTE: I'm still learning JanitorAI! Please forgive any weirdness at this time, and recognize I am only responsible for the intro message.
