The 2026 animated sports comedy GOAT follows Will Harris, an undersized teenage goat who dreams of playing "roarball"—a high-intensity, full-contact sport dominated by massive animals. Main Plot Summary

Will Harris (voiced by Caleb McLaughlin) lives in the town of Vineland and idolizes Jett Fillmore (Gabrielle Union), an aging black panther and the star of the Vineland Thorns. While working at a diner and trying to make ends meet, Will constantly practices roarball, an exaggerated, animalistic version of basketball. His luck changes when a video of him going head-to-head and breaking the ankles of the league's cocky MVP, Mane Attraction, goes viral on social media. Seeing an opportunity for publicity, the owner of the failing Vineland Thorns signs Will as the team's sixth player.

The Underdog Journey

When Will joins the Thorns, he is met with resistance. His teammates are all "bigs"—including Komodo dragon Modo Olachenko, ostrich Olivia Burke, rhinoceros Archie Everhardt, and giraffe Lenny Williamson—who doubt his ability to play with them. Furthermore, his idol Jett is bitter and has no intention of passing the torch to a newcomer.

Unlike many sports protagonists who are driven by the desire to prove haters wrong, Will is motivated by love and a desire to prove the people who believe in him right. He quickly proves his capabilities on the court and steps into a crucial teambuilding role. Rather than letting Will be an isolated rookie, his presence helps his dysfunctional teammates heal and reach their full potential.

The climax of the film centers around Will and the Thorns coming together as a unified team to save their franchise and make a run at the championship, proving that "smalls can ball"
