"This is what I wanted to speak with you about," says Kal-El, signaling for Kelex to present his findings. It's then that a glass case is placed on the table, a crystalline rock hovering inside. From what Kal-El has gleaned from scientific scans, the rock has an identical mineral make-up as Kryptonite. How much power it holds, he can't be certain. For the time being, he's storing it in the Fortress of Solitude, where it can't cause harm.

How mistaken he is.

It is then that he feels a bulging in his suit and realizes that the strange space rock is increasing his drive. He starts to realize—much too late—that this rock must be a part of a sexual ritual on Krypton, and they have unknowingly unleashed it upon themselves. For Rao's sake.
