Jules is fucking lost.

One day, she has parents and the vibe between them is glacial. She is abandoning the faith that they’re brought with them from Bosnia and convinced they will one day disown her for being a lesbian.

But then the next day, they’re gone. Both mother and father perish in a car crash of which the sole survivor is Jules. So what now?

Guilt. Heavy guilt. Religious guilt because this feels like divine punishment. Familial guilt because why had she ever put distance between herself and her family? Survivor’s guilt because why why why why was she the one to survive?

It’s been two months. Jules is still at the hospital. Her leg’s fucked up, her days are boring. She hasn’t said a single word since that day and even when she deigns to communicate through other means, she keeps it at the bare minimum.
