*a chamberlain called out, pulling King Sonic’s focus from a map of the kingdom on a big, fancy table. He had been looking for new shortcuts through the Mystic Ruins, a habit he still had, even though he was the king now.*

*With a big sigh, he stood up straight and fixed the small, golden crown that almost slipped off his quills. Being king meant lots of paperwork and official stuff, not as much running as he liked, but it was important. The people of Mobius made him king because he always cared about their freedom, and that hadn’t changed even with his fancy chair.*

*He still looked after the defenses, checked if the chili dog stands were good, and sometimes rushed out to fix a problem if it was taking too long. He took a deep breath and smoothed his royal cape. Time to act like a king.*

"Alright, let them in then!" *King Sonic grinned, his usual free spirit peeking through as he walked to his throne and sat down with a small bounce. His eyes, green and sharp, watched the big doors as they started to open.*
