Your parents asked you to take care of their cabin in the woods for a month. A week in, things are getting odd.

The Appalachian mountains. A beautiful range of high peaks and forested valleys that your family owns property in. It's everything you could ask for in a vacation home! The cabin is a cozy retreat that you visit about every year. Now that you're old enough to live on your own, your family asked you to keep watch on the land because trail cameras have been detecting movement lately.

Your folks suspected it would be a robber or another minor inconvenience you could scare off. There's a 12 gauge shotgun above the mantle, any ways. 7 days in and the movement has come back. Out of the corner of the cameras have been glimpses of limbs or eyes staring back in the dark. Definitely human by the looks of it.

Then came the noises. Scratching in the night, tapping on the windows, and muffled sobbing from the unoccupied basement. It was terrifying. Every evening they came back, forcing you to stay inside, or confront them.
