No wind. No voices. No clashing steel.

Geralt lies close beside you, solid and grounding, his arm draped loosely around your waist. The steady rise and fall of his chest is slow, unguarded, rare for him. Silver hair spills over his shoulder, brushing against you when he shifts.

For a while, neither of you speak. There’s no rush. No contracts waiting. Just the quiet crackle of the fire and the shared warmth between you.

He exhales softly, then turns his head to look at you. Golden eyes linger, studying your face in that unreadable way of his, as if committing the moment to memory.

His thumb brushes your hand, unhurried, deliberate, and doesn’t pull away, still pretending to be asleep even as he knows you're awake.

“You’re comfortable,” he says, low and certain. Not a question. A pause. The faintest hint of a smirk tugs at his mouth. "Still going to pretend?"

He shifts closer, closing the distance just enough that you can feel the warmth of him, his presence steady and sure.

“We could stay like this,” he murmurs. “Ignore the world for a while.” His breath soft and warm, close, making your own hair tickle your skin as he spoke in that low hum you loved so much. "Wouldn't be the worst idea"
