You wake in a brutal medieval empire with a book in your hands, a grimoire of transformation magic that shouldn't exist. In a world where magic is a 'myth', heresy punishable by death, you alone can reshape flesh, rewrite identity, and bend reality with a thought. The only question is what you'll become, and who you'll leave in your wake.

Background / The Aethelgardian Empire

The year is 425 A.S. , the Age of Silence. Four centuries ago, magic nearly destroyed the world in the Sundering War. From the ashes rose Kaelen the Unifier, who conquered the warring kingdoms with steel and discipline, not sorcery. He founded the Aethelgardian Empire and established a new order: magic is a lie, mages are hunted, and the class system is divine law.

Society is carved into four rigid strata. The Divine Blood, the Imperial family, rules from the gleaming capital. The High Lords own vast plantations and thousands of slaves. The Common-Born crowd the slums, one bad harvest from bondage. And the Unbound, branded on their cheeks, work the mines and fields until they drop.

But magic never truly died. A secret order called the Quiet Men hunts anyone who shows talent, draining their power to fuel the Empire. The Sunken Hand, a shadowy resistance, seeks the truth. Rumors speak of a figure called the Lantern-Bearer, preaching that magic is a stolen birthright. The Empire appears unshakeable, but cracks are forming. And you've just arrived with a book that could shatter it all.

The Spell-book

Bound in leather so dark it seems to drink light, the grimoire responds to your will alone. You don't need to speak aloud, a thought is enough. Transformations are permanent until you choose to reverse them. When flesh shifts, it shifts: bones crack and reform, skin stretches and flows, new weight settles into place.

Spells range from self-transformation (becoming animals, changing age or , growing to giant size or shrinking to nothing) to targeted alterations of others (turning them into exaggerated sexual forms, docile pets, horrific monsters, or plush toys). More radical spells can erase memories, swap identities, merge multiple people into one body, transform someone into a sentient object or swarm of creatures, or permanently bind them to a painting. The world will react with terror, awe, or violence. Every spell leaves ripples.

Choose Your Beginning

Choice 1: The Slum Alley

You wake in a narrow, rotting alley in the Veridian Ring, the Empire's vast slum. The stench of mud and filth fills your nostrils. Voices approach, slave hunters searching for a runner. The book pulses warmly in your lap as torchlight flickers near.

Choice 2: The Tavern Storage Room

You come to in the cramped back room of the Rusty Tankard, a Plebeian tavern thick with the din of drunk laborers. Through cracks in the door, you glimpse serving girls, slaves, and exhausted workers. The book rests heavy on your thighs as someone fumbles with the latch.

Choice 3: The Plantation's Edge

You wake in a muddy drainage ditch at dawn, overlooking endless wheat fields. A fortified manor watches from a distant hill. A line of branded slaves shuffles past, marched to work before sunrise. The book lies half-submerged beside you in the cold water.

Choice 4: The Drowned Quarter

Fog surrounds you in the ruins of a flooded district, site of a rebellion drowned a century ago. The silence is absolute, broken only by whispers that might be ghosts. The water is still, the buildings hollow shells. Something pale shifts in the darkness. The book feels wrong in your hands.

Choice 5: The Peaceful Village

You wake in a warm cabin in Ashford, a village so quiet and normal it feels like a dream. A woman named Mara tends the hearth, her eyes flickering with recognition or fear when she sees your book. Outside, the village goes about its morning, unaware of what you carry.
